Autonomous Administration’s representative meets officials in Norwegian Labor Party

Within the framework of developing diplomatic and political relations, the representative of AANES in Europe, Abdul Karim Omar met on Tuesday, April 2, a delegation in the ruling Norwegian Labor Party, which included the first vice-chairman of the Foreign Relations and Defense Committees in the Norwegian Parliament, Asmund Aukrust, and Member of Parliament, Mr. Mani Hussaini, in the Norwegian Parliament building in the capital, Oslo.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the Syrian crisis, noting that despite the passage of twelve years of the devastating war in Syria, which claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of Syrians and the displacement of millions of others, in addition to the widespread destruction of infrastructure. However, no signs on peaceful political solutions to the crisis.

Abdul Karim Omar explained that the reason for this is due to the intransigence of the Damascus government and its unwillingness to find peaceful solutions that put an end to the Syrian bloodshed, but its continued insistence on resolving the conflict militarily to restore the situation to what it was before the crisis erupted.

He also pointed out that among the other reasons that prevent reaching a comprehensive and final solution to the crisis that satisfies all the Syrian components is the weakness and fragmentation of the external opposition affiliated with the so-called Syrian opposition coalition and its dependence on external orders .

Turkish-Syrian normalization against the aspirations of the Syrian people

The two sides touched on the Russian attempts to conduct reconciliation between the regimes of Damascus and Ankara, where it was emphasized that if this reconciliation takes place, it will be at the expense of the Syrian people and against their legitimate ambitions and aspirations, in addition to that it will be another step in the course of open war on the regions of NE Syria and the undermining of the AANES’s democratic project.

They also mentioned that all attempts to normalize relations with the regime, if they are not accompanied by sincere intentions and unremitting efforts to find a peaceful political solution and bring about the desired democratic transformation in the country, will not succeed and will certainly be doomed to failure.

Abdul Karim Omar briefed the Norwegian delegation on the recent political solution initiative launched by the Autonomous Administration, and the statement made by the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations in NE Syria, regarding the Autonomous Administration’s willingness to receive Syrian refugees in Lebanon under the auspices of the United Nations.

The two sides discussed extensively the political, economic and security challenges facing the Autonomous Administration, in particular the “terrorist” challenge, and what is related to the issue of ISIS mercenaries detained by the Autonomous Administration and the need to expedite their trial in order to achieve justice for the victims of terrorism, and it was also emphasized that the international community should fulfill its responsibilities towards ISIS children and women inside the camps and the need to provide political, economic, humanitarian and military support to the Autonomous Administration in order to be able to establish the foundations of security and stability.

The views of the two sides were similar on all the issues that were discussed, especially on the necessity of resolving the Syrian crisis through the International Resolution No. 2254, and the need for the participation of all components of the Syrian people in defining the features of the future Syria.
