France Awards the Secularism Prize to the Co-Chair of the Raqqa Civil Council

Mrs. Laila Mustafa, the Co-Chair of the Raqqa Civil Council, who was awarded the prize, was represented in the handover ceremony by the Representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in France, Dr. Khaled Issa.

The ceremony took place in the municipality of Paris, and the Mayor handed the award to Dr Issa in the presence of the Minister of State for Citizenship and Equality, the former Prime Minister, and a large number of political and social figures.

Dr Issa gave a speech in which he stated that “giving this award is an appreciation for the lives of more than 13 thousand martyrs and more than 23 thousand wounded, and we struggle to treat them” and that “our struggle against terrorism is a daily practice, and some believe that Daesh is over, however, we are still facing Daesh sleeper cells, which are active, because they receive regional support. Yesterday, for example, a car was blown up in one of the squares of Raqqa, and there were casualties, and on the same day a Turkish plane bombed a civilian car in the city of Qamishlo, in which three civilians were martyred.”
