Meeting Between the Representative of the Autonomous Administration and the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Swiss Parliament

Bern – The representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Switzerland, Mr Hikmat Ibrahim, met in Bern with a member of the Swiss National Council and Chairman of the Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee, Mr Fabian Molina.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the overall situation and developments related to the Syrian crisis, and the most prominent obstacles to reaching a comprehensive political solution to resolve the Syrian crisis and end the suffering of the Syrians.

Mr Ibrahim drew special attention to the humanitarian situation, and the continuous Turkish violations in the regions of north and east Syria, which have recently taken dangerous dimensions, as a result of the repeated targeting of civilians through the use of drones.

He also called on European countries to assume their responsibilities to prevent the return of the terrorist organisation, DAESH, by intensifying support and assistance to the AANES, as well as repatriating their nationals, who are inside the camps in northeastern Syria.

In turn, Mr Molina confirmed that he is familiar with the project of the AANES, expressing his readiness to continue his cooperation and coordination on all issues of common interest.

He also stressed the need to solve the problem of Europeans affiliated with DAESH, who are currently in northeastern Syria, either by returning them to their countries or intensifying support and assistance to the AANES to settle their situations through legal means.
