The University of Kobani was established in 2017. It was the first university in the history of the city.
Kobani has faced many challenges, one of which has been to rebuild the education system that still suffers from the severe lack of teaching staff and proper infrastructure.
The start was very humble and our teaching staff, to some extent, did not have the required academic credentials.
Another major challenge that the University faced was the modest potential of laboratories and other teaching aids and educational tools.
But challenges did not stop us! The University of Kobani saw that there were many students who could not continue their undergraduate studies because of the war in Syria.
It opened its doors for students to finish their studies, get employment, and contribute to the development of the education system in the region.
Gradually, our university made progress and provided an opportunity for students to complete their studies. It became a place for students to fulfill their dreams and become examples for the upcoming generations.
The University of Kobani is managed by the co-presidents as all other institutions of the North and East region of Syria.
