Days ago, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi met with a US high ranking diplomatic delegation including officials of the US State of Department.
They two parties discussed the military and security developments in the region especially after the recent attack on al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah city, northeast Syria, by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells in January.
The US diplomatic delegation praised the great efforts and sacrifices made by the SDF to regain control over the prison stressing that ISIS continues to pose a threat to the entire region.
They also discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation in various fields and at all levels and the need to promote development in north and east Syria to enhance stability and security.
The US delegation included Ethan Goldrich, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Jennifer Gavito, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq, Zehra Bell, Director of the Syria and Iraq issue at the National Security Council, and Matthew Pearl, US State Department representative in NE Syria.
The delegation stressed the importance of continuing the intra-Kurdish talks in Syria and the continuation of the partnership between northeast Syria and the US-led Global Coalition.
On Monday, the US State Department of Near Eastern Affairs announced on twitter that Jennifer Gavito and Zehra Bell met with officials of SDF and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC).
